I never meant to blog so sporadically but this month has been filled with bursts of activity followed by periods of sheer exhaustion.  It’s nothing really different from every other month of the year but just seems like I have a bit less energy and I can’t seem to figure out why. While I’ve been keeping up with the sock knitting this month, Prithvi’s school has a project called Fall Foto Frenzy where students and their families are encouraged to take pictures and… Read more »

Goodbye summer… Hello fall!  Yesterday, we had a plans of going on a post-dinner walk with the kids to celebrate the Autumn Equinox.  Hmm, that didn’t happen.  But we will do it one of these evenings just to see how different things look and feel now that crisp autumn days are ahead – cool and sunny at the same time. We can feel the shift already as the summer weary sun dips below the horizon earlier and earlier each evening… Read more »

This past Saturday, we decided that we had to get out and do something fun together as a family.  Weekend chores like grocery shopping, loads of laundry, library returns, haircuts and all the other things on my list could wait.  The only thing we took care of was the haircut – just a couple of pesky bangs messing with the baby’s vision –  nothing that my kitchen scissors couldn’t fix, so over the bathroom sink it was for a quick snip,… Read more »

Since I’ve discovered that I love sock knitting, I am pretty convinced that there will always be a pair (or two) on the needles.  Socks (and hats and toys and baby knitting) are the perfect projects to break things up when other larger, endless projects are on the go (…my February Lady Sweater!) It’s taken me almost two months to complete my latest FO which is insane because it’s actually quite a quick pattern once you work out the flow on… Read more »

The first few months of being pregnant with Prithvi had me camping out in front of the toilet bowl due to the incessant throwing up.  The rest of my pregnancy went great.  This would be our firstborn and we were so excited about seeing him and about becoming parents even though we didn’t really know the first thing about babies.  I went into rapidly progressive labor while my dad battled severe cardio problems at a different hospital across town.  There… Read more »

“Buscando Azul” – Seeking Blue.  I don’t know much Spanish but that’s what the online translator said and it’s a perfect name for this hat.  Yet again, I’m smitten by the gorgeous-ness of Malabrigo this time in it’s chunky form.  The yarn and the color – love, love, love.  The pattern for this Chunky Dean Street Hat…well, I’m not so crazy about it.  I think it must be the way the decreases turn out on the top of the hat. … Read more »

It’s been flu season around these parts lately and we have been surrounded by Tylenol, tissues, VicksVapoRub (mmmmm), Sudafed (being drunk like it’s coffee sometimes!!!) and more tissues, tissues, tissues.  Really, really bummed that I couldn’t make it to a knitting afternoon with all the lovely ladies from the UAE Ravelry Group. Will be back when this bug has been exterminated.  A sick, sneezy, wheezy household – not a pretty sight. Knitting progress – absolutely ZERO!!!!

How to make my favourite ice-cream My favourite ice-cream is called citrus twist and its very sour. To make my favourite ice-cream you will need ice, cream, milk and my favourite lemon and lime juice. First you take the ice and mix it up with cream and milk and mix it all together then you take the ice-cream and roll it into a ball with your hand put it in the freezer (ooh chilly!) and wait for a day and… Read more »

Most Saturday evenings, we cook dinner together as a family and we’ve come to learn that this is a great way to build memories and have a great time.  The laughter and silliness that goes along side the preparation of this evening meal makes it so enjoyable which is why we are always coming up with “ideas” for Saturday dinner.  I am always on the lookout for family friendly recipes.  This was what we came up with this past Saturday and it… Read more »
