One evening last week, I was waiting for my daughter to finish Girl Guides and like so many other waiting moms, I popped into the local coffee shop for a drink.  I was happy that I’d remembered to grab my knitting before I left the house because knitting and Starbucks are the perfect duo. Deep in knit mode, I noticed the person sitting at the table next to me staring at my hands with curiosity.  I knew a question about what I was doing would be forthcoming…. Read more »

Uh-huh, I’ve jumped on one.  Specifically, the Find Your Fade bandwagon. I began this project because I had this one skein of yarn that I wanted to use. It was too loud and crazy on its own but paired with others, it sings a beautiful tune! The search on Ravelry and Instagram began. Who am I kidding, it was mostly the gorgeous renditions on Insta beckoning me.  Sold!! I was casting on before I’d thought this through.  Hello, 233 stitches… Read more »

I didn’t realize shawl knitting could be so much fun!  You take stripes, garter stitch and short rows and you have yourself a winning combination!  The Color Affection shawl was the perfect relaxing summer project and I was almost sad when I bound off the last stitch.  Not for too long though, as I was plotting my next stripey project 🙂 For this shawl, I used Tosh Merino Light.  The yellow is leftover from the Vitamin D cardigan I finished last summer and I paired… Read more »

I definitely learned a few things about combining colors with this project. See how vibrant that yellow-gold yarn looked in the yarn cake?  In the finished shawl, the blue makes the yellow appear quite muted.  You can’t tell with these pictures because they are closeups and your eyes are drawn to the yellow.  But from a distance, meh! All that science behind… Read more »

Thank you so much to everyone who emailed me and commented about my new site!  I really appreciate your encouragement ❤ I talked about knitting a lace shawl with beads a little while ago.  This shawl had a deadline since I wanted to wear it to my cousin’s wedding in December.  I wanted something pretty and warm at the same time to wear so that I wouldn’t become a frozen ice cube in the winter chill. Everything went well even though… Read more »

I’m sure I’ll be knitting my latest project till the last minute, maybe even blocking on the road and this is why… One of my cousins is getting married in 2 weeks.  She’s pretty local, lives on Vancouver Island actually.  I’ve picked out a dress to wear but for obvious reasons unless I grow some kind of thermal skin, I’m going to become an icicle. So, what do you wear with a dress that’s got no arms, or shoulders that’s… Read more »
