Hello lovely people and happy first day of summer!!! I’m here to do a bit of housekeeping talk about this ol’ blog.  Some of the pictures I post on my blog are squished and spilling over into my sidebar and I’m sure you’ve read a post from me and gone, “Ack!” at my picture-posting messiness and for very good reason.  My sincere apologies about disrupting your reading pleasure. By way of explanation, I edit my pictures and write my blog… Read more »

Can lilacs fade? Ours certainly have although, they smell just as pretty. Come on little bean, you can do it!  I noticed a tear on one of the leaves.  I hope it isn’t some pesky bug but just from little fingers “over-loving” this plant.  With all of the petting, it’s amazing that the little thing has survived this long. Dinner? I love this measuring tool that I scored for a quarter at a garage sale this past weekend ♥ But right… Read more »

All of the school districts in the Vancouver area have a “West Coast Recess” policy which means the kids go outside during recess and lunch to play outside despite the rain.  If you’ve lived in Vancouver or the Pacific Northwest for any length of time you’ll know that what we call rain is a heavy drizzle for everyone else.  So, no torrential downpour, thunder, lightning or any of those cool things associated with rain. Today, however, things are different. It… Read more »

Sprrrring! With the weather being so crazy gorgeous and the kids on Spring Break, every day has been packed with hikes and picnics and bike rides.  We even managed to spend some time at the beach.  Ok, we didn’t dare get our feet wet what with the water still being freezing cold and all!  We did do some pretty decent beach combing, though. I’ve been crafting a bit here and there.  On my needles is a lovely cabled sweater, Elia,… Read more »

When it comes to yarn (or fabric), color is my friend.  I’m always drawn to saturated, vibrant shades. Never one to shy away from wearing color, it’s always a challenge to pair my handknits with my clothes. I recently purchased a blouse in the loveliest shade of “seafoam” and when I looked for a sweater to wear with it, as expected, there was nothing.  All those handknit sweaters and I came up empty.  Then I spied the first ever cardigan… Read more »

15 years ago today I married my best friend, the love of my life…

First day of Winter?  Yes! Shortest day of the year?  Yes again!! And life goes on… I’ve got a pile of knitting things to keep my fingers busy. Keeping it real with a peek into my knitting basket, folks! In the spirit of full disclosure, I should mention that this isn’t the half of it!  I’ve got other projects in various stages of progress stuffed into my work-in-progress-bin.  Some of them haven’t seen the light of day in two years…. My heart goes out to all the families who lost a precious life in the horrible Newtown massacre last week.  I held my kids closer and tighter all weekend because life is too fragile. No knitting content today because I’ve been staring out at our first snow this winter.   Well, technically, it is still fall for a few more days, but who’s counting! It’s going to snow some more tonight and then of course, the rain will come and… Read more »

Yesterday was Vancouver’s annual Santa Claus Parade and we joined the masses of people to welcome Kris Kringle to our city!  The rain stopped once the parade began… a Christmas miracle indeed 😉 The marchers… The dancers… The pipers… The cuties… And of course, St. Nick himself (Mrs. Klaus was missing, however, the elves were in attendance!) Do you have a Christmas tradition that you enjoy with your family?
