The Molly beret is done and ready for gifting to Sarah. Molly for Sarah Pattern: Molly by Alana Dakos Yarn: Dream in Color Smooshy in “Happy Forest” Needles: Size US 2/2.75 mm and US 4/3.5 mm I knit the hat extra slouchy to accommodate the unfortunate hair incident and got Kirtana to model it for me.  Kiki adores Sarah and will do anything for her include sitting still for pictures!  Once again this pattern proved to be a quick, fun knit and even comes in… Read more »

Those fireworks on Sunday signalled the end of the Ravelympics.  Actually, they signified the end of the real Winter Games, but you know where my priorities lie! My challenge: to finish two shawls during the Ravelympics and knowing how I’m so easily distracted by, “ooh shiny and mmm sparkly…”, I had to focus and get these projects knitted and bound off before the flame died out.  Things went according to plan (YAY!) even though my Milkweed shawl got off to a… Read more »

I’m resisting casting on for another project with my delicious Tart with the Olympics just round the corner.  (don’t these babies look so yum) I don’t want to tackle something as large as a sweater right now.  Also, anything that I’ve swatched for lately doesn’t seem right.  Somehow my stitches are loose, and I mean REALLY loose.  To get gauge, I would need to go down 3 or 4 needle sizes and so I wait…until I get my swatch mojo… Read more »

Labor Day weekend for us was blustery, rainy and cold.  But none of that now, summer has held her (his?) ground and demands to rightfully be present for a while yet.  Bright sunshine greeted us early this morning which was a perfect opportunity for me to take a few pictures of my latest knitting achievement.  Yes, I say achievement since the gratification of finishing something knitted seems to be a thing of the distant past.  I was beginning to think… Read more »

It seems like I’m always late to the knitting party.  But, better late than never was my thought for the current project on my needles…Ishbel.  I had some Malabrigo sock yarn in my stash that I didn’t want to turn into a pair of socks but thought that I could try knitting a scarf or some sort of neck-warmer-thingy with.  Ishbel, has the possibility of combining two different sizes to accommodate yardage – or in my case, lack thereof.  The… Read more »

5425 That’s the number of February Lady Sweaters on Ravelry!!! This is not surprising, seeing that the inspiration for this pattern comes from Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Baby Sweater on Two Needles.  Despite the fact that the days are getting warmer and I should probably consider knitting a tank top or stick to sock knitting over the summer, I couldn’t resist the urge to knit this cardigan and so cast on for it a couple weeks ago.  The going has been slow which… Read more »

No.  Not the thigh high boots, trashy make-up, mini skirt wearing profession.  But this…. I was clearing out some stuff and came across this crocheted doily, table topper, runner (???) that I had finished a few years ago.  I do not remember where I found the pattern for this but I do remember exactly when I began working on this and it brings back sweet memories.  Picture this – freezing temperatures, crackling fire, Austrian alps, delicious warm Schoki… we were at a… Read more »

For Monsoon Knitting I wanted to try something I hadn’t tried before and so I tried LACE!!  Didn’t think that I would ever say that I absolutely loved lace knitting!! I didn’t have any lace yarn with me but decided to make do make do with a couple of skeins of Koigu because the blues of the KPPPM were perfect monsoon colors and with lace knitting gauge does not really count, right?   So, I cast on for the Swallowtail Shawl… Read more »
