I’d almost forgotten how exciting it is to knit sweaters for the tiny humans.  You cast on, knit for a few days and before you know it you’re casting off — it’s like the sweater knits itself.  Now that’s instant gratification! When Kiki announced one day that I had to knit her a blue sweater, my heart sang.  I knew immediately that I wanted to knit her a Tiny Tea Leaves since I love my Tea Leaves Cardigan so much.  She… Read more »

I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders once the Christmas knitting was done.  I’m kicking myself for not photographing a couple of pieces before they were wrapped and mailed away.  I knit two Porom hats since this pattern has passed the hat-stays-on-my-head test.  I used the same yarn but different colors.  The finished hats turned out great and the recipients are going to love them, I’m sure.  They were so quick on and off the needles that… Read more »

During our vacation to Vancouver Island this past summer, I cast on for Audrey in Unst thinking that I would get to wear this little cardi over summer dresses.  Yeah right, summer is long gone and we’re well into fall and all I can think about is piling on warm woolies and cranking up the heat!  Even though I don’t think that I will wear this cardigan anytime soon, I wanted to show you my very own Audrey in Unst, or Audrey in… Read more »

I’m in complete sweater knitting mode right now.  This maybe the reason, no? Being the (mostly) monogamous knitter that I am has helped with the latest project on my needles.  Emelie is growing at a steady pace and it won’t be long before I separate for the fronts and back.  The construction of this cardi is almost like Audrey.  While there are similarities in the two designs, they are quite different and so the knitting has been very enjoyable.  Add to that the joy of… Read more »

My Bugga! adventure begins now. Bugga! yes folks, that exclamation point is intentional and rightly so.  Bugga! is MCN… which means that this yarn is 70% superwash merino, 20% cashmere (ooh la la) and 10% nylon.  Warm, durable and luxurious!  I never thought that durable and luxurious could ever go together:) I have to say though that even thought it is labeled ‘sock yarn’, it doesn’t feel like sock yarn more like a light sportweight and since I am not… Read more »

Knitting the sleeves on my Audrey took longer than I expected, waaaay longer!  I was stuck on Sleeve Island for so long that funny things were happening to my knitting mojo.  But we’re back on track now, my mojo and I. When I’ve knit a couple more rows of the button bands, this cardigan is going to be done!  I have yet to track down buttons and get the blocking board out to officially finish, but the knitting’s almost done, hooray! This was… Read more »

I think I’ve kept everyone waiting long enough!! Geodesic Cardigan  Pattern: Geodesic Cardigan by Connie Chang Chinchio Yarn: Malabrigo Lace in “Emerald” Needles: Size US 6/4 mm When I first read through the pattern, I have to admit that I was a tiny bit freaked out by the “semi” set-in sleeves.  I haven’t knit those in a long time and I don’t think that my scrunched up sleeve seaming efforts have been documented on the blog here.  When sleeve day came, I began the seaming session… Read more »

Just popping by to say hi:)  We’re in between house-guests so things have been quite topsy turvy at our house.  Despite all of this, I’ve actually managed some progress on my Geo thanks to evenings spent sitting around swapping stories and memories and enjoying plenty of laughs.  I love evenings like these!! Sweater progress….details are what makes the Geodesic pattern different from any plain old stockinette cardigan.  Connie Chang-Chinchio is well-known for her cardigan patterns and this pattern doesn’t disappoint.  The faux seam, the… Read more »

Wondering why I’m suddenly into sweater knitting? This is the reason ….. International Sweater-a-Month Dodecathon 12 adult sweaters in a year is a huge feat for me but I think that this group is just the ticket to get me stashbusting.  As far as progress goes, I’m not faring too well seeing that I’ve just completed 2 sweaters so far and we’re almost done with April.  Yikes!  But I ain’t quitting yet!  Some brilliant knitters have completed their 8th and 9th sweaters for… Read more »

Finally…… my Tea Leaves Cardigan  « c’est fini » Tart for Tea Pattern: Tea Leaves Cardigan by Melissa LaBarre Yarn: Madelinetosh tosh dk  in “Tart” Needles: Size US 6/4 mm and US 7/4.5 mm I found out (yet again) that I can’t completely rely on my gauge swatch since I tend to knit tighter on a larger piece of fabric compared to a 4×4 inch piece of stitches and rows.  So, with this sweater, there was no positive ease on me as compared to the experience of most others… Read more »
