Summertime
I just can’t get that song out of my head! My favorite version of Summertime (and my mommy’s too) is sung by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. I must have listened to this song over a thousand times growing up and I still never get tired of it! Just like I will never ever get tired of watching a gorgeous sunset!
On A Day Like Today
The perfect day … to go on a hike … to spot jumpers and cheer them on, “jump, jump, jump” … to indulge in some jumping of our own Oops, see this sign? Turns out we weren’t paying attention. Yes, that’s the sign in the right hand corner of this picture!! I’m glad there’s no hiking police 🙂
This is fun, posting snippets of our vacation meanderings. Here are some of my faves from today… Be still my beating heart! Come, sit a while… My favorite of all the maples – the Japanese Maple. Ahh, sun dappled shade the best cure for the scorcher that was today. And there has to be yarn (thank you kindly, KnitMap, hehe!) Looks like a ghost marina. No wait, today is Tuesday. These folks must be hard at work somewhere and probably wishing they were out here playing instead! Chillin’
Grown up version of sand castles, I guess! Ms. K offered her stamp of approval at each exhibit. Although, I think she prefers making a swampy mess with her bucket and spade! Ahh, Summer!
We’re out frolicking in the summer sunshine! A much needed family vacation 🙂 More adventures tomorrow and maybe even pictures of the kids… if I can get them to stand still for 5 seconds!!
The Emerald City
Only 3 hours south of us by car is Seattle. We took an impulse road trip there last weekend and it was fun! I love unplanned adventures like this and the kids were great about playing along. My favorite Seattle sight was Pike Place Market especially the flying fish with the singing fishmongers. Check out these funny lamp men!! This is the last of the vacation series, for reals!!! One of the main draws of our Island trip was to hang out with my cousins and we spent a lovely day giggling and reminiscing and swapping news about all of the family drama gossip stories.
