The Fluorite socks are my February’s instalment for The Rainbow Sock Chronicles 2021. This sock pattern is by Andrea Mowry and uses a simple fade sequence that is great for using up leftover sock yarn. February’s colour for this challenge is Dark Pink or Red. I choose to incorporate a few dark pinks in my socks in keeping with the theme. The pattern is written for two lengths – calf length or boot socks and I opted for the regular… Read more »

Operation Sock Drawer
Sometime last fall, I had a YouTube channel recommendation pop up. It was a crafty podcast by Jooles Hill under her brand Sew Sweet Violet. Jooles had an idea for 2021 through community activity and she called it, The Rainbow Sock Chronicles. Rainbows make everyone smile and her suggestion was that this could be a year where we seek out “rainbows”. I don’t think that we can deny the continued devastation on our globe as this pandemic rages on. However,… Read more »
A Creative Recap
Here we are, closing the final chapter of 2020. While a lot of this year was upside-down and inside-out, there were many things that went right. I’m choosing to remember the good things. My heart is filled with gratitude for all that has been and I look forward to all that is to come. Though this is blog post is different from the way I usually write about my finished projects, I wanted to document my creative 2020 makes. With… Read more »
Sweater Weather
Do you feel it? That nip in the air. This can only mean PSL season, right? I’m not a huge fan of that particular brew, but a pumpkin-spiced candle is totally my jam. With the cooler temps, the draw towards wooly things is pretty strong. I don’t need another cardigan, but a handknit cardi? Sign me up! This year I took the plunge and joined the #jojifallkal2017. For my muggle friends, that’s the annual fall knit-along hosted by knitwear designer… Read more »
Coasting Along
I could be knitting my fingers to the bone to get my Ravellenics project finished before the Olympic flame is extinguished on Sunday. However, it looks like I’m going to have to bow out gracefully before the finish line. First, I’ve got to get all of the straggly threads knotted and buried into these coasters before tonight so that they can be shipped out pronto. Sewing these together was quick, it’s the finishing that’s going to take longer. That said,… Read more »
Summer’s End
Today is the first of school for the kids and I’m ready to embrace routine and schedules and even some “me time” 😉 This summer has been a mixed bag of sorts with many wonderful moments celebrating family and togetherness and on the other end of the spectrum holding the hand of a dear one who is hurting more than words can begin to describe. And so, life goes on and these sunny days with cool breezes will be replaced… Read more »
Business Casual
The socks I was knitting for my son’s ginormous feet are done! Happy dance!! He said that they fit perfectly and are super soft and hinted that he would like another pair. Um… maybe after I knit a few sweaters first 😉 I knit these socks as a part of the knit-along hosted by Kelly of CelticCastOn. There have been so many lovely finished pairs of Business Casuals that have been popping up on the knit-along thread. This pattern was… Read more »
Slowly, Surely
Suddenly, it’s the last day of February! I don’t have much crafting progress for show-and-tell since I’m sort of stuck with the dreaded SSS (second sock syndrome). However, I’m determined to be monogamous with this project and see it through to completion. The socks I’m talking about is this pair of Business Casuals. If you’ve been reading this blog for sometime, you will notice that I’m not much of a sock knitter. That being said, when Kelly announced that she… Read more »
Change
Can you feel the change in the air? The air is crisper, the leaves are turning and sweater weather is almost upon us! Ah September, the time for routine! As much as I love the relaxed pace of summer, I embrace the structure of back-to-school with still some sunshiny playtime left. September also means that I can get back to my poor, neglected knitting basket! I seem to enjoy knitting along with others and so when Carol Feller announced her… Read more »
Soay Again
My Soay Cardi c’est fini! This was my entry to MadMay2012 (Madelinetosh Madness). I used Tosh Pashmina, my first time knitting with this yarn and it is pure buttah!! I wanted to use this yarn for a totally different pattern, but as it sat in my yarn bin, my pattern choice changed many times. I’m glad I finally chose this design because I could customize it. I love that it is feminine with the bits of lace and the silk content… Read more »
