The perfect way to welcome summer is with a cute tee fresh off my needles. Once the temps began climbing steadily in May, my summer knitting mojo was in full force. The Tolsta Tee by Rebecca Clow of the CreaBea Knitting Podcast has been mentioned a lot over these past months and Rebecca herself has knit a whole bunch of them. This pattern is a very simple design but the thing that makes it fun is its versatility. You can… Read more »

Salty air
The Salty Air Tee is another summer knit and was it ever fun to knit! This cute little number has a gorgeous lace yoke and a cropped length (well, cropped for me and shortish according to my teenage daughter). It makes for a lovely, light summer tee. I had a limited quantity of a sock yarn from Hedgehog Fibres that I wanted to use up. I wondered if I could squeeze in a summer top or modify an existing design… Read more »
Operation Sock Drawer
Sometime last fall, I had a YouTube channel recommendation pop up. It was a crafty podcast by Jooles Hill under her brand Sew Sweet Violet. Jooles had an idea for 2021 through community activity and she called it, The Rainbow Sock Chronicles. Rainbows make everyone smile and her suggestion was that this could be a year where we seek out “rainbows”. I don’t think that we can deny the continued devastation on our globe as this pandemic rages on. However,… Read more »
Review :: Scrubby Yarn
I was asked by Yarn Canada to review some Red Heart Scrubby yarn they sent me. I have to confess, I have never knit with Red Heart yarn before let alone, a yarn that looked ‘scratchy’. But, I was ready for the challenge! As you can see, it says that this yarn is great for dishcloths, right on the ball band. I wanted to test out that claim. I received three different colored balls of Scrubby and I could knit or crochet a… Read more »
A Friday Finish – Take 2
Disclaimer: The interwebs ate my post from this morning… eyeroll, so I’m having to do a re-post. Gah! Apologies if you’ve read this stuff before and you’re looking at it again! Here’s Take 2… I finished something! Say whaaat!! Yeah, it’s true! The socks that were on my needles are done, done, done. Let’s totally not dwell on the fact that I began them ermm… last December. LOL!! These socks are for the hubster and I had him try them on after I… Read more »
And We’re Off!
Turns out that, This bundle + This pattern = Perfect Match. Remember how I blogged about this gorgeous bundle of fabric in blues and golds that recently landed in my stashed? I had the Mexico Quilt pattern in mind for this awesomeness but didn’t think I would be able to pull it off. The pattern, as envisioned by the designer, has you use one print for an entire column of blocks. However, I am known to color outside the lines… Read more »
Finishes #LaterPost
Actually typing up a blog post as opposed to formulating a post in my head is always a good thing! And, there’s no time like the present to hit publish, right? I’ve got a few small finishes that I haven’t yet shared on the blog so here’s my #LaterPost about these. Two of these FOs were made as Christmas presents so they have long since been gifted to the recipients and were received with delight! First up is this table runner made using mini squares… Read more »
Rainbow Stripes
A pair of Rainbow socks were one of the handmade gifts I made this Christmas. A while ago, I bought a few skeins of Knit Picks Felici in all their cheery gorgeousness and instantly knew that my daughter would love a pair in the Rainbow colorway. She’s one of those souls who keeps up a constant stream of chatter, always flitting about on her toes doing twirls and giggling incessantly about everything. She even giggles in her sleep and I definitely think she… Read more »
The First One
When I was little I remember my grandma spending hours sewing at her sewing machine. Always humming as she sewed. She had the sweetest singing voice. Every once in a while she would ask me to “help” sort through her scraps by size and that was the thrilling task I was waiting for. She would cut those scraps into squares or rectangles, sometimes pausing and chuckling. She would tell me how this piece was from a dress she had sewn… Read more »
Goody Goody Binding Kit
When I saw the Goody Goody Binding Kit by Vanessa Goertzen making the rounds on Instagram, I knew I wanted to make one. I also knew that this kit would have many uses other than solely for binding quilty projects. I finished all the sewing before we went away on summer vacation and then attached the binding by hand while enjoying the lull of beachside waves. There is no other sound more calming than that!! I’m delighted with this finish! It’s definitely a… Read more »
