Isn’t this little sweater just adorable?  This pattern is from one of my favorite designers, Alana Dakos.  Hot off the needles is Wee Wildflower… I think it turned out super cute despite the fact that there is seaming involved (set-in sleeves anyone!)  If I had to knit this pattern again in a small size, I would definitely convert this to a seamless garment, especially the sleeves.  And even though the pockets are darling, I’d convert them to faux pockets because… Read more »

With school resuming for the kids tomorrow, it’s time to get back to my usual routine :: crafting, blogging and otherwise. Many of our friends are expecting babies this year and while store-bought baby stuff is adorable, I’d like to put my knitting needles (and stash) to work and churn out a bunch of pint-sized gifts.  I’ve finished the Baby Sophisticate Jacket which is just waiting for some cute buttons to be totally complete. My favorite part of this whole… Read more »

First day of Winter?  Yes! Shortest day of the year?  Yes again!! And life goes on… I’ve got a pile of knitting things to keep my fingers busy. Keeping it real with a peek into my knitting basket, folks! In the spirit of full disclosure, I should mention that this isn’t the half of it!  I’ve got other projects in various stages of progress stuffed into my work-in-progress-bin.  Some of them haven’t seen the light of day in two years…. On the needles, some sunshine to delay the frost a bit longer…. But… the frost will be here soon and when it arrives, I will be warm… Almost off the needles, Ravi with a missing sleeve.  Yarn shortage is the culprit and replenishments are en route… Completely off the needles but not quite ready yet, a ruffly skirt (Ravelry link)… What’s on or off your needles?

Can you feel the change in the air?  The air is crisper, the leaves are turning and sweater weather is almost upon us! Ah September, the time for routine!  As much as I love the relaxed pace of summer, I embrace the structure of back-to-school with still some sunshiny playtime left. September also means that I can get back to my poor, neglected knitting basket! I seem to enjoy knitting along with others and so when Carol Feller announced her… Read more »

Finally, finally the sweater for my oh-so-patient son Prithvi, is done!  It turned out great and he loves it. Remember how I blogged a while ago that I ran out of yarn while knitting this sweater and had to order more?  The extra skeins that were mailed to me matched perfectly! The sweater turned so incredibly soft after I washed it and he absolutely loves wearing it.  I wish I’d gotten a bit more ease because when he buttons this… Read more »

My Soay Cardi c’est fini!  This was my entry to MadMay2012 (Madelinetosh Madness). I used Tosh Pashmina, my first time knitting with this yarn and it is pure buttah!!  I wanted to use this yarn for a totally different pattern, but as it sat in my yarn bin, my pattern choice changed many times.  I’m glad I finally chose this design because I could customize it.  I love that it is feminine with the bits of lace and the silk content… Read more »

Hi!  Hiyadoin’? I’m doing great, thanks for asking 🙂 We were just away at The Emerald City visiting family and while we were there, look at what we stuffed our faces with! If you’re ever in Seattle, you gotta eat at The Crab Pot.  The mess is definitely worth it! You should also definitely check out this studio.  We were able to chat with the artist, David Smith, and watch him work on a very interesting piece of glass work.  As a… Read more »

I’ve been knitting the Ranger sweater for my son, Prithvi, for a while now and despite some gauge checks that had to be done mid knitting and the fact that he seems to be growing faster than I can knit, I was progressing at a steady clip on this project.  I joined the sleeves to the body of the sweater and kept making my way up the yoke decreases when I went to my bag of Malabrigo Rios to pick out… Read more »

The mystery sweater knit-a-long  that I have been a part of is done!  It looks quite adorable – poofy sleeves and all! Since this year’s spring is warmer than normal for most folks, the majority of knit-alongers decided to knit short sleeves on their sweaters.  I, on the other hand, opted to follow the pattern for long sleeves so that Kirtana could get some use out of it later this year too.  The longer sleeves provided for some interesting knitting and… Read more »
