Windschief seems to be my go-to hat pattern for the guys in my life.  The first one I knit was for the Mister using Dream in Color Classy in a classic grey.  He’s worn that hat a TON and it still looks like it was knit yesterday.  Top marks for this yarn! After knitting the Ranger sweater for Prithvi, I had a bit of yarn leftover.  Although, he will never be caught wearing the matching sweater-hat combination, I knit him… Read more »

A quick drive-by post to point you in the direction of a lovely pattern that was recently published by my dear friend, Kelly. Test knitting is always fun!  It’s great to work alongside the designer as their pattern is tweaked and fine-tuned before making it ready for publishing.  When Kelly asked me to test knit her hat pattern, Stormont, I jumped at the opportunity. Stormont was a great pattern to knit. This pattern allowed me to indulge in the cable… Read more »

Outside, the colored canopy is incredible.  Rust, red, orange, yellow, bits of green all around .  Breathtaking. Beautiful. The colors on this skirt will remind me of the magic outside long after every leaf has floated down and the branches are bare welcoming the pause and rest that is winter. Sea Anemone, is a skirt designed by the very talented, Elena Nodel.  The cabled section on the otherwise plain skirt was a welcome twist while I was knitting this project…. Read more »

On the needles, some sunshine to delay the frost a bit longer…. But… the frost will be here soon and when it arrives, I will be warm… Almost off the needles, Ravi with a missing sleeve.  Yarn shortage is the culprit and replenishments are en route… Completely off the needles but not quite ready yet, a ruffly skirt (Ravelry link)… What’s on or off your needles?

Finally, finally the sweater for my oh-so-patient son Prithvi, is done!  It turned out great and he loves it. Remember how I blogged a while ago that I ran out of yarn while knitting this sweater and had to order more?  The extra skeins that were mailed to me matched perfectly! The sweater turned so incredibly soft after I washed it and he absolutely loves wearing it.  I wish I’d gotten a bit more ease because when he buttons this… Read more »

My Soay Cardi c’est fini!  This was my entry to MadMay2012 (Madelinetosh Madness). I used Tosh Pashmina, my first time knitting with this yarn and it is pure buttah!!  I wanted to use this yarn for a totally different pattern, but as it sat in my yarn bin, my pattern choice changed many times.  I’m glad I finally chose this design because I could customize it.  I love that it is feminine with the bits of lace and the silk content… Read more »

I knit the Spring Garden Tee as a part of the Tops, Tanks & Tees KAL hosted by Shannon of luvinthemommyhood.  The first one was when I test knit the pattern for Alana way back in 2010.  This time around, I get to keep my SGT 🙂 I zipped through this one pretty quick and it is the most comfy tee to wear – cool, drapey and soft. My gauge was spot on with this yarn (this never happens to me!!!) but when I knit… Read more »

Spring blossoms are so fleeting each year and right now the blooms are long gone. Well almost…. A few of us signed up for a knitted postcard swap on the Amiras Group and this is the postcard I created for my partner.  I knit the background using different bits of yarn I had leftover from other projects and then embroidered the cherry blossoms and other flowers with french knots using embroidery floss. I had to rely on YouTube to refresh… Read more »

The mystery sweater knit-a-long  that I have been a part of is done!  It looks quite adorable – poofy sleeves and all! Since this year’s spring is warmer than normal for most folks, the majority of knit-alongers decided to knit short sleeves on their sweaters.  I, on the other hand, opted to follow the pattern for long sleeves so that Kirtana could get some use out of it later this year too.  The longer sleeves provided for some interesting knitting and… Read more »

When you’re knitting with lovely yarn in a fabulous color, miles of plain stockinette or garter stitch don’t seem tedious at all.  Rows and rows of knits and purls stacked on top of one another are simply enjoyable, until you get to…. you guessed right… the sleeves!!! The Garter Yoke Cardi became my go to project to bring to Knit Nite every Monday and for months it seemed like I was knitting and knitting but just wasn’t moving ahead.  Then one… Read more »
