With school resuming for the kids tomorrow, it’s time to get back to my usual routine :: crafting, blogging and otherwise.
Many of our friends are expecting babies this year and while store-bought baby stuff is adorable, I’d like to put my knitting needles (and stash) to work and churn out a bunch of pint-sized gifts. I’ve finished the Baby Sophisticate Jacket which is just waiting for some cute buttons to be totally complete.
My favorite part of this whole project was the shawl collar. It’s being blocked flat now (on my jaundiced blocking mat). Once it’s turned over, the collar is the most adorable thing ever!
Ever since Alana and Hannah published their book, Coastal Knits, I’ve had my eye on the Wildflower Cardigan. When Alana published this pattern in kids sizes as Wee Wildflower, I had to purchase it and promptly cast on with some Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino.
The pockets are turning out super cute with the wildflower motif and I can’t wait to finish this project to see the end result.
It really is a darling pattern even though I had to begin with 222 stitches (gasp!) for the smallest size. That’s a lot of stitches but the stitch counts decrease drastically once you are done with the edging. For me, these instant gratification projects are the right ticket to get into this year’s crafting groove!

Yes, baby boom here to. Was trying to be monogamous but just had to cast on an Offset Wraplan for my soon-to-be granddaughter.

I bought some of the smaller patterns from Coastal Knits too but forgot all about them. Your little pink cardigan looks gorgeous and I love the edging. Baby gifts are so lovely to knit and I think most parents appreciate them.

Nothing beats a baby knits for instant gratification. They’re often just one or two skeins, but are so much cuter than a scarf or hat… Can’t wait to see that little wildflower cardigan, it’s so sweet.
